Fuse Cutout Types

Fuse cutout has 4 categories according to design,include Standard fuse cutout,Loadbreak fuse cutout,Disconnect break fuse cutout,fuse cutout-Arrester combinations.
Standard fuse cutout Provide protection to the line of distribution system.It
can also be used as a sectionalizing device.Using a portable loadbreak tool,it can function much like an overhead line disconnect switch.
LOADBREAK fuse cutout with arc chute provides loadbreak capability. Also expands the flexibility of the protective devices.
FUSE CUTOUT-ARRESTER Combination units install easily and faster,more economically,take up less space in storage,transit and service.Each combined unit takes up a minimum of space on the crossarm and has a favorable weight distribution for minimal off- center loading.
DISCONNECT BLADE cutout adopts design feature of fuse cutout,using cooper disconnect blade to replace fuse tube, be used as a sectionalizing device(disconnect switch) on 11kv to 36kv distribution system.
Also include 2 categories according to insulation material,it include polymer fuse cutout and porcelain fuse cutout.
 

How Does A Fuse Cutout Work

 
Fuse cutout is the most commonly used short-circuit protection switch for 11-38kV distribution line branch lines and distribution transformers. It is widely used in 11-38kV distribution lines and the primary side of the distribution transformer is used for protection and equipment switching and switching operations.

The movable contacts at both ends of the fuse tube are fastened by the fuse (melt). After the upper movable contact is pushed into the protruding part of the "duckbill", the upper static contact made of phosphor copper sheet, etc., is against the upper movable contact. Head, so the fuse tube is firmly stuck in the "duckbill". When the short-circuit current is blown by the fuse, an arc is generated. The steel paper tube lining the fuse tube generates a large amount of gas under the action of the arc. The upper end of the fuse tube is sealed, and the gas is sprayed out to the lower end to extinguish the arc. Because the fuse is blown, the upper and lower movable contacts of the fuse tube lose the fastening force of the fuse. Under the action of the gravity of the fuse tube and the upper and lower static contact springs, the fuse tube quickly falls, causing the circuit to be disconnected. , Cut off the faulty section of the line or faulty equipment.

Fuse Cutout Service

The melt should be tightened during installation (make the melt subject to a pulling force of about 24.5N), otherwise it is easy to cause contact heat.
The fuse should be installed on a cross arm (frame) with a vertical distance of not less than 4m from the ground. If it is installed above the distribution transformer, it should maintain a horizontal distance of 0.5m or more from the outermost contour of the distribution transformer to prevent it from melting. The tube fell and caused other accidents.
The fuse installed on the cross arm (frame) 
should be firm and reliable, and there should be no shaking or shaking.
The length of the fusion tube should be adjusted moderately. It is required that the duckbill tongue can buckle more than two-thirds of the length of the contact after the switch is turned on, so as to avoid the false action of self-falling during operation, and the fusion tube should not top the duckbill to prevent The fuse tube cannot fall down in time after the melt is blown.
